August 2019, AITEX lab (Spain) has tested Volcano fr fabric to the new version of safety standard for Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame. Volcano confirmed its compliance to ISO EN 11612:2015 and received a new certificate, which you can see below.
Super multi-functional Flame Retardant fabric with Antistatic properties. Volcano is made of 87% cotton/ 12% nylon, 1% Antistatic, weight 260gsm and best used for protective clothing. Certified by EN ISO 11611, 11612, EN 1149, EN 13034. It is an excellent choice for FR-clothing of oil and gas companies, operating in a warm or hot climate. Due to elegant and smooth satin weave, protective clothing made of Volcano fabric looks impeccable on rig chiefs of offshore platforms as well as on manager staff in the office of petroleum company.
According to EN ISO 11612:2015, Volcano has been successfully tested to the following tests:
- Heat Resistance (ISO 17493:2016) – performance level – PASS

- Contact Heat (ISO 12127-1:2015) – performance level – F1
- Average threshold time (S): 7,9
ISO 12127-1:2007 specifies a test method for the determination of contact heat transmission. It is applicable to protective clothing (including hand protectors) and its constituent materials intended to protect against high contact temperatures. ISO 12127-1:2007 is restricted to contact temperatures between 100°C and 500°C.
Performance | Threshold time (s) | |
Minimum | Maximum | |
F1 | 5,0 | < 10,0 |
F2 | 10,0 | < 15,0 |
F3 | 15,0 |
The performance requirements set out in ISO 11612:2015 are applicable to garments which could be worn for a wide range of end uses, where there is a need for clothing with limited flame spread properties and where the user can be exposed to radiant or convective or contact heat or to molten metal splashes.
Volcano is a light flame retardant fabric with classic twill weave, developed specially for light flame retardant clothing. Volcano protective fabric is recommended for use as a middle layer of FR-clothing, like shirts, vests, light pants, or even light overalls for hot climate.
