Alba certified to EN 20471

Alba Multi Tex HV Orange EN 20471 Certificate resizeIn June 2017 XM textiles polyester fabric Alba (Hi-Viz orange and yellow) has been successfully tested and certified to EN 20471 (High visibility clothing - Test methods and requirements).
The main feature of Alba it’s an innovative multi-layer construction. Practical and pleasant to the touch with eyecatching design, this fabric has successfully entered workwear market.
The material of the membrane consists of several layers which are firmly bonded to each other by lamination.
The outer layer comprises a durable, abrasion-resistant fabric. The inner layers are more soft, good insulating and breathable.
The main properties of workclothing from softshell are freedom of movement, stretching, air permeability (high water vapor transmission rate), wind and water resistance.

The Standard EN 20471:2013 specifies requirements for high visibility clothing which is capable of visually signaling the user's presence. The high visibility clothing is intended to provide conspicuity of the wearer in any light condition when viewed by operators of vehicles or other mechanized equipment during daylight conditions and under illumination of headlights in the dark.

Performance requirements are included for colour and retroreflection as well as for the minimum areas and for the placement of the materials in protective clothing.
According to standard EN 20471 has been successfully passed all the following tests:

 

1. DETERMINATION OF COORDINATES (X,Y,Y)
The chromatic coordinates must be situated within the area defined by the coordinates specified in the Standard EN ISO 20471:2013/A1:2016 and the luminance factor shall exceed 0,70 specified in the Standard EN ISO 20471:2013/A1:2016.
Alba passed the test with the following results:

• Original: 0,9175 - PASS
• After testing light fastness: 0,9238 - PASS
• After 5 washing cycles at 60ºC + tumble drying: 0,8934 - PASS

 

2. COLOUR FASTNESS TO RUBBING
The limit set by the Standard EN ISO 20471:2013/A1:2016 for color fastness to rubbing is 4, in dry.

• Warp/Weft (dry staining): 4-5 - PASS

 

3. COLOUR FASTNESS TO PERSPIRATION
The limit set by the Standard EN ISO 20471:2013/A1:2016 point (5.3.2) for testing of colour fastness to perspiration, is 4 for degradation and 4 for staining

ALKALINE SOLUTION

• change in colour: 5 – PASS
• staining (cotton/polyester): 4-5 – PASS

ACID SOLUTION

• change in colour: 5 – PASS
• staining (cotton/polyester): 4-5 - PASS

 

4. COLOUR FASTNESS TO DOMESTIC AND COMMERCIAL LAUNDERING
The limit set by the Standard EN ISO 20471:2013/A1:2016 point (5.3.3) for testing of colour fastness to washing, is 4-5 for degradation and 4 for staining.

• change in colour: 5 – PASS
• staining (cotton/acryl): 4-5 – PASS

 

5. FABRIC TENSILE STRENGTH AND RUPTURE ELONGATION
The tensile strength of coated fabrics and laminates must resist a breaking load in both directions ≥ 100 N.

• Warp: 1400N - PASS
• Weft: 520N - PASS

 

6. WATER VAPOUR RESISTANCE
According to the requirements of standard EN ISO 20471:2013/A1:2016, water vapour resistance of all layers of the garment shall be in accordance with the following table:
