In August 2017 our new fabric FR-Fleece-280 was tested and certified to EN ISO 11612 (Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame).
ISO 11612:2008 specifies performance requirements for garments made from flexible materials, which are designed to protect the wearer’s body.
The performance requirements set out in ISO 11612:2008 are applicable to garments which could be worn for a wide range of end uses, where there is a need for clothing with limited flame spread properties and where the user can be exposed to radiant or convective or contact heat or to molten metal splashes.
The testing was done at independent international laboratory AITEX (Spain).
FR-Fleece is designed to use the softness and warmth of Fleece fabric with adding some extra features such as Heat and Flame Resistance. We use 60% Modacrylic fibers and 39% Cotton together with 1% Antistatic carbon fibers to get our 280gsm FR-fleece. The part of Modacrylic fibers interwoven with Cotton provides to the the whole fabric its flame resistance. FR-Fleece can be used as a middle layer or warmer for winter FR-clothing.
FR-Fleece-280 has been successfully tested to the following tests:
1. Limited Flame Spread (ISO 15025:2002, Method A)
Requisites to be met according to ISO 15025
a) No specimen shall give flaming to top or either side edge
b) No hole formation in any layer of 5 mm.
c) No specimen shall give flaming or molten debris
d) Afterflame time is ≤ 2 s
e) Afterglow time is ≤ 2 s
FR-Fleece results for samples
- Flaming to top or either side edge: No – PASS
- Hole formation: No – PASS
- Loose waste: No –PASS
- After flame time (s): No – PASS
- Afterglow time (s): No –PASS
Performance level according EN ISO 11612:2015 – A1
2. Determination of Dimensional change in Domestic washing and drying (ISO 5077:2008)
In accordance with the Standard EN ISO 11612:2015 point (6.4), the dimensional change of knitted fabrics shall not exceed ± 5%, both in width (Crooswise) and in length (Lengthwise).
- Warp: -4,0% – PASS
- Weft: -3,0% – PASS
3. Bursting Resistance (ISO 13938-1:2000)
The relative expanded uncertainty of Bursting resistance according to standard EN ISO 13938-1:200 is ±8%.
Requisite according to standard EN ISO 11612:2015 – the minimum bursting resistance has to be ≥100 kPa.
FR-Fleece after 5 washes test results
- Bursting strength (kPa) : 232.4 – PASS
4. Determining of Heat transmission on exposure to Flame (ISO 9151:1995)
