August 2019, AITEX lab (Spain) has tested Sonora-185 fr fabric to the new version of safety standard for Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame. Sonora-185 confirmed its compliance to ISO EN 11612:2015 and received a new certificate, which you can see below.
XM FireLine Flame Retardant fabric Sonora-185 is a light protective fabric for hot climate made of 80% Cotton / 20% Polyester with flame retardant finishing.
The areas of use might be Transportation of Oil & Gas (pipelines workers), Petrochemical (refineries staff), Utilities (Electrical/Water/Gas service companies personnel) etc.
According to EN ISO 11612:2015, Sonora-185 has been successfully tested to the following tests:
- Heat Resistance (ISO 17493:2016) – performance level – PASSSonora-185 results for samples and after 5 washing cycles at 60ºC, according to the standard ISO 6330:2012, method 6N, F drying (tumble dry)

ª: Heat transfer index, as defined in ISO 6942
- Contact Heat (ISO 12127-1:2015) – performance level – F1
- Average threshold time (S): 7,3
ISO 12127-1:2007 specifies a test method for the determination of contact heat transmission. It is applicable to protective clothing (including hand protectors) and its constituent materials intended to protect against high contact temperatures. ISO 12127-1:2007 is restricted to contact temperatures between 100°C and 500°C.
Performance |
Threshold time (s) |
|
Minimum | Maximum | |
F1 | 5,0 | < 10,0 |
F2 | 10,0 | < 15,0 |
F3 | 15,0 |
The performance requirements set out in ISO 11612:2015 are applicable to garments which could be worn for a wide range of end uses, where there is a need for clothing with limited flame spread properties and where the user can be exposed to radiant or convective or contact heat or to molten metal splashes.
Sonora-185 is a high quality cotton rich blend, improved by addition of polyester, provides that Sonora-185 flame retardant fabric combines comfort of natural fibers and durability, higher tear resistance and better colorfastness of polyester.
