November 2017. Our fr-fabric Volcano has been re-certified for EN ISO 11612:2015. Due to this ISO certificate is valid only for 5 years, and the original testing was done in 2012, XM FireLine™ has tested this flame retardant fabric once again. The testing has been done at international lab AITEX (Spain).
ISO 11612:2015 (Protective clothing – Clothing to protect against heat and flame) specifies performance requirements for garments made from flexible materials, which are designed to protect the wearer’s body.
The performance requirements set out in ISO 11612:2015 are applicable to garments which could be worn for a wide range of end uses, where there is a need for clothing with limited flame spread properties and where the user can be exposed to radiant or convective or contact heat or to molten metal splashes.
Volcano is an innovative flame retardant fabric made of cotton-nylon blend, which is extremely tear-resistant and durable. This durability let’s sufficiently increased life circle of flame retardant clothing.
According to EN ISO 11612:2015, Volcano has been successfully tested to the following tests:
- Limited Flame Spread (ISO 15025:2002, Method A)
Requisites to be met according to ISO 15025
a) No specimen shall give flaming to top or either side edge
b) No hole formation in any layer of 5 mm.
c) No specimen shall give flaming or molten debris
d) Afterflame time is ≤ 2 s
e) Afterglow time is ≤ 2 s
All Fabrics results for samples and after 5 washing cycles at 60ºC, according to the standard ISO 6330:2012, method 6N, F drying (tumble dry)
- Flaming to top or either side edge: No– PASS
- Hole formation: No– PASS
- Loose waste: No– PASS
- After flame time (s): No– PASS
- Afterglow time (s): No– PASS
Performance level according EN ISO 11612:2015 – A1
- Determination of Dimensional change in Domestic washing and drying (ISO 5077:2008)
In accordance with the Standard EN ISO 11612:2015 point (6.4), the dimensional change of knitted fabrics shall not exceed ± 5%, both in width (Crooswise) and in length (Lengthwise).
Volcano
- Warp: 0,0%– PASS
- Weft: –2,0% – PASS
- Tear Resistance (ISO 13937-2:2000)
The relative expanded uncertainty of Tear resistance is ±3.9% assay value of the measured, for a probability of coverage of 95%. Is determined the Lengthwise and Crosswise directions, respectively.
REQUISITE ACCORDING TO EN ISO 11612:2015
The external material must resist a determination of tear resistance in both directions ≥ 10 N.
- Lengthwise tear strength: – 26N- PASS
- Crosswise tear strength: 37N – PASS
- Fabric Tensile Strength and Rupture Elongation
The relative expanded uncertainty of Tensile strength resistance is ±2% assay value of the measured, for a probability of coverage of 95%.
The material must resist a breaking load in both directions ≥ 300 N.
